Doctrinal Basis of BCCC

According to the Church constitution article 4, the doctrinal basis of the BCCC shall be as follows:

  1. The divine inspiration an infallibility of Holy Scripture as originally given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct;
  2. The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead;
  3. The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God’s wrath and condemnation;
  4. Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ, born of virgin Mary, the Incarnate Son of God;
  5. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead;
  6. The necessary of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective to the individual sinner granting him repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ;
  7. The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the Believer;
  8. The one Holy Universal Church which is the Body of Christ and to which all believers belong;
  9. The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Brief History It was in 1970, when Peter Wang was studying for his Ph.D. in Bradford, that each Sunday, he joined with a fellowship in Leeds, and felt Bradford have to start a fellowship. It was arranged to have the first meeting on 1 Nov, 1970. So what was to become the Bradford Chinese Christian Fellowship (BCCF), commenced with just a handful of people. Over the years, as Chinese nurses and students came to Bradford to study, we have welcomed them from Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore and from other places as well. Now there are ex-members scattered all over the world.

At the annual general meeting in mid February 1998, the members of the fellowship had approved the new Church Constitution and at the same time announced the birth of Bradford Chinese Christian Church. From when we became the first Chinese Christian Church in Bradford and for this we would like to give thanks to God.

Surely, it is still a joy to welcome new students especially those who know the Lord as their savior, that we might share fellowship with them and help them grow in their Christian life. It is also with immense joy to help others to come into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. Although it is essentially for Chinese, we welcome all who would come to join us.

The Mission of BCCC The mission of our Church is to seek to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and edification of believers in particular among persons of the Chinese race (but not exclusively) in Bradford and the surrounding area.

BCCC Link with COCM Chinese Overseas Christian Mission (COCM) is based in Miton Keynes, and works among Chinese throughout UK and also in Europe. They have full time workers who encourage Chinese believers in all walks of life, and to tell about the love of Christ that all may believe. Although each fellowship is autonomous, yet most are affiliated to COCM. So by this means we are all linked together and can share in a common purpose of reaching out to those who have left their homeland and in some way help them.
